Opening of The Nature Trail Interpretative Boards

Mayor Ross Paterson will officially unveil the interpretative boards on the tracks around Aongatete Lodge and in the forest. This will be followed by the opportunity to peruse some of the signs at your leisure on a 800 meter walk around the nature trail loop track.

Aongatete Outdoor Education Centre and Aongatete Forest Restoration Trust are working together to improve the environmental education focus at Aongatete. These 29 interpretive panels is a start and covers the geology, interesting aspects of the ecosystem, conservation activities and some Rongoa properties of the surrounding Kaimai forest. The project has been funded by grants from the Western Bay of Plenty, Lion Foundation and DOC.
