“Only when the flower dies do we get the fruit.
Only when the fruit is destroyed do its seeds come out.
Only when the seed breaks open can the new plant emerge to give us more flowers and fruits once again.”

Brand New Wellington Soul Dub Blues Band: Owlet Nightjar
Performing material from their forthcoming debut album The Regenerative Principle.

Tied together by an underlying theme of transformation, this music is a celebration of the beauty of life, death and everything in between.

Featuring Tim Key (Newtown Rocksteady) vocals/guitar, Thomas Friggens (Brockaflower) drums, Blain Fitzpatrick (Raw Collective) bass and some extra special guests to be announced.

“Although the songs traverse genres and while neither hip hop nor reggae necessarily, they are tied together by a common groove which evokes these styles. Lyrically, the album's storytelling is coherent, sustained and refreshingly to the point with language that isn't overly embellished or floral and is perhaps more narrative than visual. That said, at times, Key's use of metaphor such as in the opening track Big Tree Falls is deft and evocative.”

With support from Papa-Son (Matiu Te Huki and his son Nikau).

Doors at 8pm
Music from 9pm
