"Through the lion's rage, still I am for peace." - Te Whiti o Rongomai, Parihaka spiritual leader.

The resistance of the people of Parihaka to violent colonialism is the foundation of the modern peace movement in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Join us to honour that resistance, and to build on it by working for peace and justice today.

This one-day conference is an inclusive and conversational space covering topics including the legacy of Parihaka, colonialism today, global peace and justice movements, Islamophobia, and militarism in the Pacific.

Speakers include: Paora Joseph, Parihaka descendant & filmmaker; Pacific scholar Teresia Teaiwa; MP Marama Davidson speaking on her journey as part of the Women's Boat to Gaza; and Emilie Rākete from No Pride in Prisons.

Open to the public.
