For the first time in over 140 years, paintings from the famous Impressionist Exhibition of 1874 will be in the same room. However, these are no ordinary paintings. Because the original works are spread around the world, held in various public and private collections, replica paintings have been created by New Zealand and overseas artists.

Replica artworks are all over the world, including Te Papa and the McCahon House Museum. While replicas don't replace seeing the original, they allow for people to get an experience of the original without having to travel around the world. This exhibition takes from paintings housed in the Musee d'Orsay, The Courtauld, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC, among others.

With works from major Impressionist artists like Monet, Degas, Cezanne and Renoir, visitors have the opportunity to see the artworks in a similar vein as they were originally displayed in late-19th century Paris.

Visit the website or Facebook page for more information on the exhibition and to find out when special talks will be held.
