oted the world’s top thinker by Prospect magazine readers, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins is never far from the headlines, having been first catapulted to fame by his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, and later dubbed the world’s most outspoken and controversial atheist after his 2006 rejection of a supernatural creator in The God Delusion.

In a special one-off New Zealand event, Dawkins will reflect on his eminent career as a scientist and the ideas and influences he writes about in his recent second volume of memoir, Brief Candle in the Dark: My Life in Science. He will also talk about what it was like to live through the international fallout from The God Delusion.

Dawkins was so popular when he appeared at Writers Week during the 2010 New Zealand Festival we had to move him from Wellington Town Hall to the Michael Fowler Centre, which then sold out as well. So make sure you book early for his return to the Michael Fowler Centre and Writers Week in 2016.

Dawkins will be in conversation with New Zealand writer Bernard Beckett (author of Falling for Science: Asking the Big Questions).
