Robbie Burns may be the greatest songwriter in history. He was certainly the outstanding ‘rock star’ of 18th century Scotland and love for his poems and songs has spread around the world ever since. Yet everyday people pass his statue in the Octagon without any thought for the man or his music.

It’s time for Dunedin musicians to show some respect for the Master! Let’s see what you can do with some Burns’ classics - songs which have been popular for centuries, but maybe need a few tweaks to really connect with a modern generation. We want to see Robbie’s work rocking Dunedin.

Here’s the challenge. Choose one of Robbie Burns’ songs from the list below - or any other song by Burns which takes your fancy and reinterpret it for a modern audience.
- A Man’s a Man for A’ That
- Ae Fond Kiss
- My Luve is Like a Red Red Rose
- Auld Lang Syne
- Scots Wha’ Hae
- Ye Jacobites By Name
- Jamie Come Try Me
- Coming Through the Rye

Robbie Rocks Dunedin has two categories:
- Youth section - open to any performer/band whose members all attended school in 2016.
- Open section - open to everyone else.

Up to five finalists from each of the two categories will be selected to perform for prizes on Sunday, 22 January 2017.

Finalists will be selected from the video entries, but the prize winners will be chosen by the official judging panel according to their live performance on 22 January.
