New Zealand is becoming an increasing multicultural society, with large numbers of migrants coming to New Zealand each year to live. However, migrants often need information and guidance to help them connect to their local community (and New Zealand society in general), and may not always know what help there is available to them, or where to go to get this help.

Come and hear Sonette de Koster, Branch Manager of the Browns Bay CAB, talk about the resources the CAB have for helping migrants and how the CAB help migrants settle in New Zealand. Sonette’s talk will also include stories of migrant’s experiences of New Zealand. It will also briefly cover an overview of the migrants in our local community, and touch upon renting in New Zealand, including the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords.

Please note the CAB are contracted by the Immigration Department to be the public face for migrants coming to New Zealand, and have been playing an important part in helping migrants settle in New Zealand for many years.

Sonette advised the talk will be interactive and welcomes questions from people attending this talk.

Morning tea is from 10.30, with the talk beginning at 10.45am.
