Oceans are a sonic symphony. Sound is essential to the survival and prosperity of marine life, but man-made ocean noise is threatening this fragile world.

Sonic Sea gives us a chance to listen to the symphony, learn about animal communication underwater, and explore effective ways to protect wildlife from the destructive effects of oceanic noise pollution. Among the marine species, marine mammals are most vulnerable to underwater noise. Why is it so and what we can do to protect our dolphins and whales will be explained by University of Otago Prof. Steve Dawson and Prof. Liz Slooten, founders of the New Zealand Whale and Dolphin Trust and marine mammal conservation experts.

This is the very first (and potentially only) public screening of the film in New Zealand and an exclusive to the NZISF. Also, thanks to partners and supporters, this is a free admission event. Definitely, an occasion not to miss.
