This year's Storylines Auckland Family Day will be a special event, planned to coincide with the final day of the IBBY World Congress.

Delegates will be able to attend what is thought to be one of the largest children's books festive days anywhere. Activities will include readings, book launches, book signings and talks by participating authors, displays, illustrators at work, book-related drama.

This August the Aotea Centre will bring the world to Aotearoa! Be part of the story:
- Out of this world performances include Richard Taylor & Martin Baynton (The Wot Wots and Thunderbirds are Go!) as well as Tim Bray Productions performance of the children’s production of The Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera.
- Make your own world of characters with our artists and illustrators in action, including Robyn Belton, Sandra Morris, Fraser Williamson and Donovan Bixley.
- Star in your very own comic with Dylan Horrocks and make masks with Michel Mulipola, the ‘Bloody Samoan’.
- If the force is with you, create stories with magnets with Des Hunt, or make your own Grow Me Well puppet with Dee Pigneguy.
- Go the distance to make your own Golden Kiwi medal with David Riley, or fly away with an origami butterfly made with Melinda Szymanik.
- Get carried away by Gareth Ward’s magical stories, or test your limits with the Kids Lit Quiz for all ages.
- Travel the world-in-a-room by speed dating our award-winning international guests – what will you ask?
- Then come back to earth with a slice of cake at Joy Cowley’s Birthday Party.

Plus – storytellers, book characters, face painters, Painted Stories exhibition, Perform! education musicals, and a universe full of fun!
