Once a year Waiwhetu based Studio Sasada School of Music puts on a concert that gives every student, with their families and friends, the chance to perform the music they have been learning.

The Little Theatre in Lower Hutt is the venue for the concert, that provides valued experiences for everyone involved. People volunteer their time for this event and enjoy watching performances on piano, guitars, drums, bass, sax, and vocals. The musicians all work in bands to cover music of their own choice, and have a lot of fun doing that.

Music styles range from classical piano, to classic rock, funk, jazz, pop, blues, reggae, original compositions, metal and more. In 2015 a Jazz in the Hutt interlude featuring Paul Dyne on double bass, Roger Sellers on drums and Anita Schwab on piano with teachers of Studio Sasada who are graduates of the NZ School of Music. The 2016 concert will also feature Jazz later in the evening.

Awarded a Hutt City Creative Comunities Fund grant in 2015, the concert is a performance experience that includes other family members, friends and professional musicians of Studio Sasada. Playing in the concert gives people opportunities to meet others and work together. The young people show increasing self confidence and to express themselves creatively. Studio Sasada aims to achieve the highest professional standard of performance. Each performance is video recorded so each person can then watch his or her own performance.

Professional lighting by Abstract Productions and sound using high quality performance equipment is a feature of the concert. A number of local businesses support this concert for example Valley Printing who create the programme and tickets.
