The Museum Gallery contains beautiful taonga (treasure) Maori and early settler displays. Learn about the now extinct Moa bird through Whangarei's very own Moa story. The WW1 centennial exhibition "Northland Remembers", standing until 2018, is both fascinating and moving.

The temporary exhibition in the Mim Ringer Gallery for this summer is "Settlement to City - an exploration of the evolution of the Whangarei home 1860s to 1960s."

This development would be typical of any similar sized New Zealand town of that era.

Explore the beautiful grounds, ride the trains and finish the holiday period off with our fabulous family event day "Medieval Madness".
