The Supertonic Choir of Wellington will be bringing choral music to the streets with a 15-minute set featuring music from it's latest concert series 'Sojourn'.

The set will include both enchanting classical works from Gustav Holst, and popular songs reinvigorated through the jazz idiom. The music embodies the changing of the seasons, and the rejuvenation and vitality of spring.

The 56 strong choir is made up of singers in their 20s and 30s. Over the last three years, Supertonic has performed both traditional classical music such as Vaughan Williams' Mass in G and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, as well as presenting more boundary-pushing programmes such as Fighting in the Dance Hall, which paired Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours with David Bowie’s Hunky Dory in a choral rock concert extravaganza. The choir’s combination of technical skill and passion for the music they perform has Supertonic noted by critics as a new phenomenon in the Wellington choral scene.

In addition to this event, Supertonic will also be performing full concerts at Church Road Winery on Saturday 10 September (5:30 pm) and at the Central Hawke's Bay Municipal Theatre on Sunday 11 September (1pm).
