Wellington Poet and Dominion Post writer finally gets her moment in the spotlight

The life and works of Robin Hyde, one New Zealand’s greatest poets and writers, will be celebrated in The Iris Project as part of the Wellington Fringe Festival (2-5 March). A multimedia tribute to Hyde, The Iris Project is a compilation of her poems set to original music by virtuoso composer Pete Stewart and sung with the smoky delivery that is Vebka, with a selection of Hyde’s original prose taken from her journals, personal corrospondance, and newspaper articles in the Dominion Post read by actress Kiri Bell. The performance weaves together poignant moments from her life, offering audiences an innovative audiovisual experience that honors Robin Hyde in a way that she deserves: as a major figure in Twentieth Century New Zealand literature and culture. After performing at the Adelaide Fringe Festival the Iris Project will return to both Wellington and Dunedin Fringe Festivals in early March.
