The Man Whose Mother was a Pirate! Adapted by Tim Bray from the novel by Margaret Mahy & Mean Jean the Pirate Queen by Michelanne Forster.

Directed by: Annette Searle.

Plus: Saturday & Sundays at 11am & 2pm.

Mean Jean is a swash-buckling lady pirate in times when pirates roamed the sea and anyone could find buried treasure.

On the other hand, The Man Whose Mother Was A Pirate, a Margaret Mahy story, is a pirate adventure that tells the story of Sam, an extraordinary man who wears an ordinary suit and works in an ordinary office. But extraordinarily, his mother is a pirate who yearns to see the sea again – a wonderful madcap adventure ensues as they travel to the sea.

Our 90-minute production (Interval is included) is geared for ages 3-93 and encourages involvement from the onset. The interactive content is such that participation is a vital attribute.

We are confident audiences will be stimulated by the presentation to the extent where we envisage audiences sitting on the edge of their seats getting involved in the action and ensuring, naturally, a satisfactory conclusion to both stories.

So wait no longer – weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen and make ye way to the Hagley Open Stage Theatre you young scallywags!
