An exploration of the role portraits play in family history through 17th and 18th century paintings from the Rokeby collection. A stunning collection of historic paintings from Britain, which have never before been publicly exhibited, depicts branches of the Rokeby family tree over two centuries.

Discover the clues in the portraits that point to who each sitter was, and how family history was pieced together with the paintings at the centre of the puzzle. Get to know each subject and the role they played within their family, and ponder at the mystery of the woman whose identity still remains an enigma.

“Friends come and go, but relatives tend to accumulate.” – Unknown

13th August from 2 pm to 3 pm.
Riah King Wall will speak about her research into The Rokeby Portraits and the complex journey taken to discover the identities and relationships between the people in the paintings.
