Circle of Fifths is pleased to present The Tempest by William Shakespeare, funded by Creative New Zealand Creative Community Fund and the Paekakariki Community Board. Director Shona Jaunas has been working with an immensely talented cast for the past three months putting together a production that promises to encapsulate both the comedy and drama of William Shakespeare’s final play.

The production design is Steam Punk meets Mad Max in a post-apocalyptical world where the island has to not only deal with its new arrivals but also all the plastic that keeps on washing up on the shore.

Paekakariki poet Maria McMillan is playing Prospera and Vivienne Bell is playing Caliban in a twist of gender which provides a different perspective to the play.

Maria McMillan has been writing a blog of her experience in ‘becoming Prospera’ and you can check this out at http://mariamcmillan.weebly.com/becoming-prospera

Jaunas also requests that all audience wear a shade of blue or green. Don’t expect to be coming to an ordinary production. The play has a running time of around 90 minutes and there will be a short intermission.
