The second of three Sing Aotearoa concerts, tonight featuring The Tudor Consort and The Auckland Chamber Choir.

The Tudor Consort is a specialist early music choir based in Wellington and is made up of the region’s finest choral singers. The group was formed in 1986 by Simon Ravens and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Prizewinners at two editions of the Tolosa International Choral Competition, other highlights of its history have included critically-acclaimed performances of Handel’s Messiah and J S Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. They will make their NZSO debut with Messiah in December 2016. The choir is directed by Michael Stewart, who is also the Director of Music at St Paul's Cathedral, Wellington.

The Auckland Chamber Choir was formed in 2006 as an ensemble to give young singers at the University of Auckland an opportunity to sing in a quality a cappella chamber ensemble. The unique structure of the choir sees both students and professional-level artist practitioners performing and working alongside each other. The choir is directed by Karen Grylls ONZM, Associate Professor in Conducting and Head of Choral Studies at The University of Auckland, who, in 2015 celebrated 30 years with the choir.
