The Urban List Auckland has recently named 46 & York as a Sunday 'place to be' so come join us and see why they've made the call!

We've got a double-header special Sunday this weekend, it's Labour Weekend, so you can lie in to recover from Salina Pearl's birthday on Sunday arvo!

Salina-Pearl discovered her passion for house music as a child of the late 90’s house era at age 14 where she secured roots in the club scene working bars and doors for various promoters and all-ages events around town. She left school and became a regular at iconic north shore hot-spots such as “Fever” where she discovered her passion for the soulful side of the house.

Heavily influenced by the likes of the local house residents such as DJ Andy Vann, Dean Webb, Sam Hill, Warrick, Dan n Cuz etc she would follow them into town sneaking into party nights at Ministry/Red Zone, Calibre and The Box while ignoring the club age restriction of 21 at the fresh age of 16. She rapidly gained a wealth of experience and respect in the house community enthusiastically championing her taste in music amongst a rapidly growing social network of DJs and aficionados.

By now a complete house addict, Salina-Pearl moved to create the legendary party band “Deep Hard n Funky” in 2000 as co-director at just age 18. With her passion for the local industry, love of the music and flair for a creative production she saw the brand rise to become one of Auckland's biggest and longest running party nights, known for its electric interactive vibe and solid local lineups of giants big and small. In high demand, Salina-Pearl organised national tours for hot acts such as “Pnau” “House of Downtown” and “Our House” and co-produced large scale events with Remix Magazine featuring international artists such as “Mateo & Matos” “Eddie Amador” and “Mark Farina” to name a few.

Growing naturally from a platform of promotion and a refined sense of musical taste, Salina-Pearl took to spinning vinyl. Having learnt from some of the best in the biz she quickly secured herself a space as a well-known face on the Auckland DJ circuit. Tim Phin became something of a mentor to her early DJ career often throwing her in the deep end by walking away from the decks forcing her to jump on and mix. With her DJ career spanning 13 years Salina-Pearl has since maintained residencies and played regularly at numerous bars, clubs and premium events in Auckland developing her own flavour of deep and underground house infused with funk and garage sounds of a bygone era.

Renowned for her fluid seamless blends and spot on track selection her passionate energetic performances make her a crowd favourite when she’s Jamming behind the decks.
