Interested in researching someone who served in WWI? Archives New Zealand holds a variety of First World War records beyond the digitised personnel files.

By using records such as unit diaries, maps, photographs, registers, administrative and policy records you can trace the service of a serviceman or woman, and learn more about the units in which they served. In this talk, Jonathan Newport will look at how you can find these records at Archives New Zealand, how you can use them together with the other records, and what Archives is doing to make these records more available. Jonathan Newport is a Research Archivist at Archives New Zealand Te Rua Mahara o te Kāwanatanga.

The Alexander Turnbull Library holds talks of interest to family historians each month (February to November). If you would like to join the mailing list to hear about the Family History Monthly Talks - and other events at the National Library of New Zealand - email ATLOutreach@dia.govt.nz
