Wine, cheese, Dutch inspired nibbles and a tour of the Rembrandt Remastered exhibition.

With two Dutch based exhibitions currently on display at Rotorua Museum, October has become our month of Dutch celebration and perhaps unknown by many is that October is also national cheese month.

This clash of events begs the question; why not combine the two into one unique event?

On Friday 28 October 2016, Rotorua Museum will host Wine and Cheese with Rembrandt, offering a unique viewing of the Rembrandt Remastered exhibition followed by a taste session of Dutch specialty cheeses and award winning Volcanic Hills wine.

On the night, beginning at 6pm you’ll enjoy Dutch inspired nibbles courtesy of our café chef followed by tour with Rembrandt scholar Emma Jameson. Jameson studied Rembrandt as part of her studies for Honours Art History in 2014, as her passion for the Grand Master lead to her former role as Auckland Manager for Rembrandt Remastered exhibition.

From 7pm you will enjoy delicious Gouda cheese from Meyer Cheeses and local wine from Volcanic Hills Winery.

Miel Meyer is general manager of Meyer Cheese and comes from a long line of cheese makers heralding from the Netherlands. His family set up Meyer Cheese in Waikato in 1984 and have been winning awards ever since.

Brent Park from local winery Volcanic Hills will come and tell us some interesting facts about wine and let us try some of his award winning tipples bottled right here in Rotorua.

With many Dutch favourites on offer we hope to peak your interest in specialty cheese and deepen your appreciation of Dutch culture through the unbeatable combination of food and art.
Tickets are available from Rotorua Museum reception or Eventfinda.
