World Smokefree Day is celebrated internationally (known as 'World No Tobacco Day') on the 31st of May every year.

This year the Smokefree Marlborough Coalition is challenging cafe and restaurants to make their outdoor dining areas smokefree for the day - #smokefreeallday.

Cafe and restaurant in the Blenheim CBD will be displaying World Smokefree Day regalia and using smokefree signage in their outdoor dining areas. This might be all the motivation they need to go smokefree-all-day everyday!

Show your support for New Zealand becoming smokefree in 2025 and visit one of Blenheim's #smokefreeallday cafe on Tuesday 31st May!

What is this all about??
Smokefree 2025: In New Zealand, World Smokefree Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the Smokefree Aotearoa 2025 goal, the NZ government's aspiration for New Zealand to be Smokefree by the year 2025. Smokefree 2025 means that our children and grandchildren will be free from exposure to tobacco and tobacco use, less than 5% of our population smoke tobacco and tobacco products will be difficult to sell and supply.

Stop before you start: helping kids keep smokefree. Whānau is a driving force for many people wishing to protect others from the harms of second-hand smoke. This is a common cause for all people, cultures, communities and whānau. The call to action is for smokers and non-smokers to take control and stop exposing others to second-hand smoke, especially children. No one wishes smoking upon their children or any young person.

Quit now! World Smokefree Day also provides an opportunity to encourage and help those who want to quit smoking and support friends and whānau on their quit journey. For free local support to quit smoking, contact:
