Explore the mystery of our brains, where our most precious memories live with art and light installation - Affinity.

Affinity explores the effects of Alzheimer’s on our memories and is best viewed from dusk till 10pm. Community volunteers will be onsite (every night) as evening ambassadors.

When stimulated by human touch, the globes set-up a striking display of sound and light, representing the rapid-fire transmission of messages between neurons.

Explore the large-scale (13m by13m) installation as sounds and personal stories of local Rotorua residents impacted by dementia emanate from the orbs.

Created in Australia, by amigo and amigo in collaboration with S1T2, the sculpture wowed thousands in Auckland when it made its first NZ appearance last year.

Rotorua is the second and only other NZ city to host Affinity and its time here is made possible by generous support, from premium sponsor, health and care company Bupa.
