The 2017 Albert Eden Schools Cultural has been funded by the Albert-Eden Local Board and coordinated by the YMCA at Mt Albert Community & Leisure Centre.

The day will be officially opened by the Albert-Eden Local Board and have over 60 performances from 22 different local schools preforming on two stages throughout the day. Over 1700 kids are registered to perform on the day.

The kids’ performances will include Kapa Haka, Indian, Tongan, Japanese, Polynesian, and Greek Dances. Flippino, Cook Islands, Samoan, Niuean groups and Ukulele Groups

We expect up to 7000 in attendance watching performances, picnicking, and also attending fun rides and lots of other YMCA facilitated activities all the while dining from stalls of school and getting information from community and local health groups.

Albert-Eden Schools Cultural Festival is beneficial to our community’s children and their Families including the young and old. It’s an opportunity for the children to build confidence, character and stamina through the learning, creating, practicing and then performing for parents and the larger community.

Not only are the children having a chance to share a piece of their own culture and that of their parents, but it is also a way for children within their own schools to participate in cultural performances from different countries. It is these ‘cross cultural’ experiences that help build a strong community of understanding, appreciation and respect for such a diversity of people we have in Auckland.

A fantastic day for the community, a brilliant day for the kids and a proud day for all.
