“It is no stretch at all to describe Andrew White as the Art Tatum of the guitar.” – Stephen Pederson, Chronicle Herald, Canada

Andrew White is a troubadour. He is one of those rare artists who can skillfully combine brilliant finger-style guitar work with a compelling story in lyric and deliver them both in an engaging live performance. Andrew's music has been described as a road map of the experiences of a musical life coupled with guitar technique that has left thousands of people breathless. While technically brilliant, his guitar work is not just out to impress - it has a pleasing, highly melodic structure.

Andrew started his career busking on the streets of Auckland. In 1984, he released his first self-produced album, Conversations, and was immediately signed by the U.S. label Narada Records. Following the release and subsequent acclaim for his debut album, Narada then offered Andrew a five year, seven album record deal. In 1990 Islands, an instrumental collaboration with Grammy-nominated artist David Arkenstone was released and reached the top 10 on the US Billboard Charts Instrumental category.

Andrew has since toured and recorded consistently, performing at festivals, concert halls and folk clubs. Although often on the road, Andrew has called West Auckland home between musical adventures and regards the magic of the West coast a source of inspiration.

Returning from a spate of South Island gigs Andrew will be performing one Auckland concert only, at Lopdell House in Titirangi village on Saturday 9th September. He will be performing tracks from latest album Beautiful Trouble, his forthcoming instrumental guitar album, and favourites from his back catalogue of thirteen albums. Concert goers will also be able to sample Beautiful Trouble IPA craft beer, brewed by the Birkenhead Brewing Company, inspired by the title track of the album.

Andrew has toured, played with and supported such artists as The Corrs - Michelle Shocked - Clannad - John Martyn - Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads) - Janis Ian - Mary Black - Cappercaille - Eddie Reader - The Indigo Girls - Taj Mahal - The Strawbs - Mick Avory (The Kinks) – Dave Clarke - Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix Experience) - Dave Rowberry (The Animals) - Brendan Power – Seals and Crofts – Tommy Emmanuel - Juan Martin - Ottmar Liebert - Antoine Dufour - Andy Mckee - Don Ross - Peppino D'Agostino - John Renbourne and many others.

"Andrew is a magical writer, listen to him with your heart.” - Tommy Emmanuel C.G.P.

" White's style is a unique, soulful mix, and his guitar playing is extraordinary." -Rambles Art Magazine, U.K.

“White is one of those few blessed individuals who combines international-class finger-style guitar playing with great vocals and superb –song- writing.” - Ian Melrose (Clannad)
