Step on board Antarctic aircraft before they head to the ice for the summer season. Meet the crews and check out a US Air Force C17, a RNZAF C130 Hercules, a historic Beaver and more.

Learn about the people who work in Antarctica and what it is like to live on the coldest and windiest continent.

Entry to the tarmac is by free, time-allocated boarding passes which can be collected from the Check-in desk outside the Antarctic Centre. Bookings can be made via The Antarctic Office website.

Be sure to check out the displays by Christchurch's Antarctic organisations - try on Antarctic clothing, see what it's like to camp on the Ice, meet huskies, and learn about what people do down in Antarctica. There will also be food vendors on site and other awesome activities for all ages!

Event parking will be available for $5 on Peter Leeming Road. Proceeds go to Plunket.​
