Antibiotics have had the winning hand over bacteria since the 1920s discovery of penicillin. But experts warn the end of drug primacy might be just a decade away.

Award-winning scientist and science communicator Dr Siouxsie Wiles has made a career of manipulating microbes and will answer the questions of what might this look like and how can we avoid it?

Dr Siouxsie Wiles and her team at the University of Auckland use glowing bacteria to understand how infectious microbes make us sick and to find new medicines. She is an enthusiastic tweeter, blogger, artist, curator and media science commentator and has won numerous prizes, including the Prime Minister’s Science Media Communication Prize and the Royal Society of New Zealand Callaghan Medal.
