The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC), the most important amateur golf tournament in the region, will this year be staged at the stunning Royal Wellington Golf Club. The winner will earn an invitation to the 2018 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club as well as The 147th Open at Carnoustie in Scotland. Competition will be between more than 100 amateurs from 41 countries who are set to compete over 72 holes.

Played on the refurbished Heretaunga course at Royal Wellington and broadcast live to more than 160 countries, the AAC will be one of the biggest golf events ever staged in New Zealand. Now on its ninth year, the AAC was founded in 2009 by the Masters Tournament, The R&A and the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation to develop the game throughout the region. In its short history, the championship has seen the birth of some of the game’s future heroes, including Hideki Matsuyama, two-time AAC champion and now one of the top-ranked players in the world.
