Explore the world of bees for Bee Aware Month!

ApicultureNZ, Wellington Beekeepers Association and the Wellington Gardens have joined forces for this special event. This year’s theme, Pollination Illumination, is all about shining a spotlight on the benefits bees provide us through pollination.

Come and see us in the Treehouse Visitor Centre to meet some of Wellington’s bee experts, taste some local honey, check out our awesome displays or take part in one of our scheduled activities.

There will be games and activities to keep the kids entertained too!

Scheduled events:
- 10am-2pm: Lab In A Box: Drop in and check out this mobile interactive wonder-lab and explore bees like a scientist.

- 10:15am-10:30am: Wellington Beekeeper Association talk: “Gardening with Bees”

- 11am-12pm: Botanic Garden Guided Tour: Pollination- what to see and look for when bees are working.
Where: Meet at the fountain in the Lady Norwood Rose Garden

- 11:30am-11:45am: Wellington Beekeeper Association talk: Beekeeping Equipment Demonstration

- 12:30pm-12:45pm: Botanic Gardens Plant Collections Manager talk: Making your garden what a bee likes to see
Where: Fragrant Garden

- 1pm-1:15pm: Wellington Zoo staff talk: Bee communication

- 1:30-2pm: Community Music Junction Performance by Bangers and Bash
