Join artist Julia Holden while she recreates live the portrait Caroline Oliver (1940) by Leo Bensemann in the gallery.

Using the human body as a canvas, Holden will bring the portrait to life using paint and props. Watch and listen while the process and history behind the portrait is narrated by arts commentator Grant Banbury.

Julia's unique process involves painting directly onto the body of a subject and recreating with pose, colour, paint and costume iconic and historic portraits.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see a portrait come to life!

This event has been made possible with the generous support of the Friends of the New Zealand Portrait Gallery and donations in kind by Resene and Courtenay Studios.
