A Polish Cultural Concert Celebrating 145 Years of Polish Settlement in New Zealand.
The Federation of Polish Organisations in NZ (FPONZ) and the Event Organising Committee cordially invites for the Polish cultural journey, presenting Polish history in NZ and the best of Polish culture.

In 1872 the ‘Friedeburg’ left Hamburg bound for Canterbury, NZ.
On board was Rosalia Gierszewski with her family.
This is her story.

Jolanta Kossakowska (Violin & Voice), directly from Warsaw, Poland. Jolanta is a vocalist playing stringed instruments such as medieval fiddles, gęśle, and baroque violin. She is a songwriter as well as composer of music for theatre and film. She will present variety of Polish classical & contemporary music.
‘The songs are mostly about special moments in my life - turning points when you have to make crucial decisions about your life. So these are songs about love, death, strong emotions and starting a brand-new life.’

’Fantazja’ – Polish Drama Theatre from Sydney, Australia
‘It would be difficult to say that it is an amateur theatre, since many of our actors have formal drama training. Our group works in cooperation with professional set designers, musicians, artists, as well as film directors’
'Fantazja' will perform modern short play ‘Serenade’ by Sławomir Mrożek, Polish dramatist, writer and cartoonist. Written in 1976, shows the defects of the surrounding world - animal characters with human characteristics, the best to ridicule human imperfections. (In Polish with English subtitles)

‘Polonus’- Folk Dance Group from Christchurch, NZ.
‘Our mission is to stimulate public interest in Polish culture and to facilitate enjoyment and appreciation of Polish customs and heritage.’
‘Polonus’ will perform five national dances of Poland – Kujawiak, Oberek, Mazur, Polonez and Krakowiak.
