This intimate club-styled event is a fundraiser for the Birkenhead College Music Department. The night will showcase three outstanding ensembles and guest soloists in a low-lit, elbow bumping, goatee scratching, sophisticated setting.

We kindly thank Muddy Water Wines for donating outstanding wines to complement the top-notch jazz. Book a table of four and receive a free bottle of stunning wine!

The three ensembles featured on the night are:

The BC Senior Jazz Sextet - Six seniors students from Birkenhead College make up this dynamic ensemble. They can often be seen busking on the streets of Beach Haven and gigging at local community events. Their influences include Jimi Hendrix, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Mac DeMarco, & Miles Davis.

The BC Jazz Orchestra - After winning 'Best Performance of an NZ Work' at the Auckland KBB Music Festival in 2015, this ensemble has dug into rehearsing a combination of original and covered material. They will present a combination of Swing, Blues, Funk, and Afro-Cuban music that won't disappoint!

‘The Doughboys’ - This quirky Jazz quartet plays country, Hawaiian and sea shanty tunes. Imagine you are in a dinghy furiously rowing away from vigilante cowboy pirates. You find sanctuary on the lee shores of Kauai and run for cover into the desolate wilderness with your trusty sextant, a pair of chaps, your six-shooter, and a ukulele. As you encounter local hustlers, jungle woman, and salty sea dogs, the Doughboys create the perfect soundtrack!
They are:
- Neil Watson (Tami Nielson, Tim Finn).
- Cam Allen - Tenor Saxophone (Opensouls, Circling Sun).
- Alex Freer - Drums (Tiny Ruins).
- Rui Inaba – Double Bass (The Mighty Herbsman, Circling Sun).

Surprise guest artist and alumni are also lined up to join forces.

Please note this is a licensed event and all students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver. No Birkenhead College students will be served alcohol under any circumstances, regardless of age.

General Admission is seated without a table. Table of Four receives a Complimentary bottle of Muddy Water Wine.

The bar is cash only.
