Breaking the Code By Hugh Whitemore
2nd -16th September 2017

This Tony award winning play presents a number of scenes in the life of lan Turing, the mathematical genius who was instrumental in deriving a solution to the German Enigma code and subsequently developed some of the first computers. Turing was the subject of the 2015 movie, The
Imitation Game.

Based on the biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges, this play examines the links between Turing’s mathematical insights and code-breaking activities during World War II and his attempts to deal with his homosexuality in a less tolerant age.

Presented in a non-linear fashion, the play examines Turing’s relationships and interactions with key people in his life. The intimate Gaslight Theatre seats 55 patrons and there are 11 shows over the 2-week season: Matinee $25, Show Only $30, Dinner & Show $60. Tickets also available from PaperPlus, Cambridge
