They’ve been described as a two-man tempest of pure shanty, and “New Zealand's most 'sea worthy' shanty group”. They’re the Wellington Sea Shanty Society, and we’re excited that on Friday March 3rd, they’re going to be bringing a raucous good time to Brothers Beer.

Since 2012, Vorn Dont le Père Etait Marin (on squeeze-box duties) and Lake Davineer (on the git-fiddle) have been belting out traditional sea songs from Aotearoa, France, Spain, the UK, and other salty corners of the world.

We’ve also brewed up a special sea-worthy ale for the occasion, so you can really get into character. Whether you're a seasoned sea dog or a latte-sipping landlubber, you're encouraged to sing along. Don’t know any shanties other than “Drunken Sailor”? That’s okay: the W.S.S.S. believe that "a shanty shared is a shanty savoured”, and pass out shanty song books to one and all, so everyone can participate.

Come down for a shanty-appropriate beer, tap into your inner sailor, and have a foot-stompingly good time. Entry is free, and the shanties drop at 8.
