800 degrees glass.

Limited to a maximum of eight participants. Early registration is recommended.

What participants will learn in this workshop:
- How to carve a block of investment (limited to a size capable of 500grams of lead crystal glass), using various carving tools or tools they bring to the workshop.
- What is positive and negative space and how these impact the glass object once it is cast.
- How to clean their carved investment block ready for casting.
- How to measure the amount of glass required to fill the mould.
- How a kiln is loaded, and what happens to the moulds once the kiln is turned on and firing.

In the following week, workshop participants will return to the workshop and see their moulds in the kiln that have been cast. They will learn to take out their own casts out of the kiln and how to break open the mould to reveal their own created piece of glass art.

- They will have been advised prior to attending this day as to what to bring.
- They will learn how to be safe while divesting their moulds.
- They will learn about using a slurry to grind their glass work of any impurities, excess glass etc.

The most direct method of casting and it is only 1.5 days so leaves the rest of your weekend free. First time offered in 2017.
