A screening to celebrate dance!

First up is a film featuring the early training and career of the former director of the New Zealand School of Dance, in Rowena Jackson: Prima Ballerina (1975). Early footage and photographs show the talented young ballet student and her rise to fame with the Royal Ballet Company in Britain, followed by footage of her work at National School of Ballet in Wellington, where she was co-director with her husband, Philip Chatfield.

Then enjoy a story from the iconic television arts programme, Kaleidoscope (1984). Fiona Copland reports on the New Zealand School of Dance (formerly the National School of Ballet), the students and their expectations and aspirations.
