Join Cellists of Otago in a program of music from classical gems in the repertoire for cello ensemble (13 cellos) and cello soloists. Highlights include Vivaldi’s thrilling double concerto for 2 cellos - the one and only of its kind, performed by visiting USA cellist Gregory Hamilton and Heleen du Plessis. Peter Lee will perform Max Bruch’s evocative Kol Nidrei in an arrangement for cello ensemble and soloist. Another gem from the cello ensemble repertoire is Villa Lobos’ Modhina, a hauntingly beautiful, sentimental Brazilian love song from Bachainas Brasileiras no. 1. Other attractive works deserving a place in the program of cello classics include works by well-known composers Telemann, Debussy, Popper, and Fauré.
