Written by Ted Tiller, inspired by Bram Stoker’s novel - Count Dracula.

Director: Alistair Bean

Riccarton Players first production for 2017 is the wonderfully eerie horror classic, Count Dracula written by Ted Tiller and directed by Alistair Bean.

Inspired by Bram Stoker’s ground-breaking novel, “Count Dracula” is a fresh retelling of the epic tale of good versus evil and science versus superstition.

Things are more than unusually strange at Dr. Seward's Asylum for the Criminally Insane ever since the arrival of a mysterious nobleman from Transylvania. Renfield, a patient, keeps escaping, and Mina, the Doctor’s beautiful and virtuous young ward, has fallen ill with a strange malady - with the same symptoms that killed her friend Lucy.

It's up to the good Doctor, Mina's fiance Jonathan, and the crusading Professor Van Helsing to save Mina and discover the truth about Count Dracula - before it's too late!

According to director Alistair Bean, the production is a “faithful retelling of the original story. The show offers some lighter moments to break the tension, but the story is rooted in Bram Stoker’s original text.”

Audiences will get caught up in the battle as men of good character like Jonathan Harker, Dr. Seward and Professor Van Helsing take on the Prince of Darkness himself - Count Dracula.

Don’t miss this thrilling, suspenseful and amusing production!

There will be screams, there will be a stake and of course, there will be blood...
