Attention aspiring writers across the Peninsula! Here’s your opportunity to attend a 3-day block of creative writing workshops in Whitianga led by New Zealand’s literary heavyweight Renee Liang scheduled for Waitangi weekend.

A second-generation Chinese Kiwi, Renee is a poet, playwright, fiction writer, paediatrician and medical researcher - as described by NZ Herald: paediatrician by day, poet and playwright by night. She is a multidisciplinary artist, having written in many genres including short and long fiction, poetry, theatre, non-fiction, blogging and arts journalism.

Workshop attendees (adults and youth from 15 years) will explore their own stories, themes and environments in a literary way, and can expect to gain new and refined skills through collaboration and the sharing of their work in a nurturing environment.

The stories emerging from these workshops will form the basis of a book which will be launched at a special reading for family and friends on Waitangi Day (12-2pm).

The book will eventually be available for purchase and will be ISBN-referenced, therefore able to be stocked in local libraries and bookstores etc.
