Electronic extraordinaire Crystal Castles have announced a New Zealand show as part of their upcoming MJR Presents tour Downunder.

The groundbreaking experimental act, which hails from Toronto, Canada, will play at Auckland’s iconic Powerstation on May.

Crystal Castles changed the face of electronic music when they burst onto the club scene in 2008 with their mind-blowing debut self-titled album. It drew critical acclaim and propelled them to the forefront of EDM communities around the world.

Headlining shows and major festivals all over the globe, the band went on to forge a reputation as one of the most compelling and energetic live acts in music.

“The opening song Plague sent the crowd into immediate frenzies… Ethan Kath’s catastrophic wall of sound ignited the intimate Studio into a pure indie-rave for a solid 90 minutes of distorted bliss” - Undertheradar review from their NZ gig at the Studio in 2013.

As their Australasian shows get closer, electro-punk extraordinaire Crystal Castles are excited to announce that Australian trio Crooked Colours will be joining them as the opening act for all five shows on the tour.

After an 18 month hiatus, Crooked Colours have just released their first single ‘Flow’ from their long awaited LP, which is due out this year. It comes on the back of their break-out success with the singles ‘Come Down’, ‘Capricious’ and ‘Another Way’, which combined have clocked more than six million streams on Spotify.

Staying true to the style of their previous releases by creating music that has one foot in the indie world and one foot in a darker electronic realm, Crooked Colours are sure to provide plenty of pre-show party vibes before Crystal Castles’ much-anticipated show at the Powerstation in Auckland on May 25.

A groundbreaking experimental act, famed for their raucous live shows, Crystal Castles will be giving Kiwi fans a chance to see their new material live for the first time, as well as playing all the well-loved tracks from their self-titled albums I, II, and III. The Auckland show comes hot on the heels of announcements that the duo has also been confirmed for two of the biggest festivals on the planet - Coachella and Bonnaroo.

Expect nothing but an explosion of exhilarating energy, with all the favourite crowd-pleasing tunes as well as the band’s freshest material, when Crystal Castles returns to New Zealand for their one and only show at the Powerstation on May 25. This is one show you do not want to miss!
