Why spend your Thursday night watching a good film at home, when you can spend it watching a terrible movie with us. Join two comedians for a journey into royalty-free cinema and bad commentary.

Dressing up according to the theme of the film is encouraged!

To kick this thing off, we’ve gone with a real classic, Reefer Madness.

Reefer Madness is a 1930’s American propaganda film revolving around the melodramatic events that ensue when high school students are lured by pushers to try marijuana—from a hit and run accident to manslaughter, suicide, attempted rape, hallucinations, and descent into madness due to marijuana addiction. The film was directed by Louis Gasnier and featured a cast of mainly little-known actors.

Originally financed by a church group under the title Tell Your Children, the film was intended to be shown to parents as a morality tale attempting to teach them about the dangers of cannabis use.[5] However, soon after the film was shot, it was purchased by producer Dwain Esper, who re-cut the film for distribution on the exploitation film circuit beginning in 1938–1939 through the 1940s and 1950s.[5]

The film was "rediscovered" in the early 1970s and gained new life as an unintentional satire among advocates of cannabis policy reform.[5][6] Critics, however, have panned it as one of the worst films ever made.

Your comics for this screening are....
Justin 'Rusty' White!
-- He hates it when people bring it up, but Justin "Rusty" White is a critically acclaimed, multi award winning comedian. Who wouldn't be embarrassed by descriptions of his "virtually uninterrupted hour of laughter" show I Learnt Something Once like "a gem of a show", or the somewhat OTT "finely polished masterwork" (Theatreview). How would you like being described as "can only be described as hilarious" (ArtMurmurs Wgtn). How would you recover from being "undoubtedly the highlight of the night" (Caclin magazine) then going on to win Best Comedian (2016 Chch Comedy Awards)? All right, we get it! Jeez. Rusty wishes people would stop going on about it…

"I don't want to labour the point, but this is a funny, funny, funny, funny, funny show" - Theatreview

Stop it.

Best Christchurch Comedian (Christchurch Comedy Awards 2016)
Best Male Comedian (GoMedia Comedy Carnival 2017)

And all the way from the UK....
Steven Morgan!
-- Steven Morgan is an odd man. I don’t think even he can protest that, though he would if he thought it would get to you. He’s just that sort of person.

Born in the “suicide capital of Wales”, Bridgend, Wales he moved to sunny Brisbane, Australia in 2014 after spending the previous ten years living in London, England. Since moving to Australia, he launched headfirst into his comedy through stand-up, improv and sketch.
