A world famous fashion designer, a leading costume designer, an international model and one of New Zealand’s most well-known contemporary artists are all supporting the Diocesan School Secret Art initiative, with their artwork to go on sale alongside hundreds of other original pieces on 8 June 2017.

Last year, one lucky customer walked away with an original Dick Frizzell artwork. This year, over 500 postcards sized artworks are expected to be up for grabs at Dio Secret Art 2017, with almost half being provided by Old Girls, well-known personalities and some of New Zealand’s best-known artists.

The identity of these high-profile artists is a closely guarded secret but will include acclaimed printmaker, painter and sculptor, Michel Tuffery.

The Dio Secret Art 2017 event provides visitors with the opportunity to purchase an original postcard-sized artwork for just $100 each - but the twist is that purchasers won’t know who the artist of their particular painting is until after they have acquired it and the signatory on the back is revealed.

The fundraising initiative will support the development of the Diocesan School Arts Centre. Stage 1 of the state-of-the-art performing arts and learning centre was completed at the end of 2016, with the development of Stage 2 due to commence in late 2017.

The Secret Art initiative is free and open to the public, with the Pop Up Gallery open from 9am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday, 9 and 10 June.

An exclusive preview cocktail event will be held at the School on Thursday 8 June 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Event tickets are available through iTicket.
