Join Dr Catherine Mohr – a world-leading surgical robotics expert from Silicon Valley – as she talks about how advances in technology can save lives.

Surgeon, bike mechanic, inventor, roboticist, mechanical engineer, hybrid car builder, sustainability champion and medical technology pioneer. Dr Catherine Mohr is a Dunedin-born, American-raised self-confessed geek – and this year’s Pickering lecturer.

Over her career, she has reinvented herself many times – graduating from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1990 and then graduating from Stanford Medical School in 2006. Since then she’s played a pivotal role in Intuitive Surgical’s development of the da Vinci Surgical System – a robotic system that is all about minimally invasive and safer surgery.
