Elephants have long been a subject of artistic imagination - they classically represent strength, memory, loyalty and wisdom.

In the large-scale video installation Play Dead; Real Time, a four-year-old giant Indian elephant named Minnie performs a series of tricks at the command of her off-screen trainer. Filmed on the polished concrete floors of New York's Gagosian Gallery, Scottish artist Douglas Gordon captures moments of beauty, control and awkward vulnerability.
