Hi, everybody.

This is a small introduction to the second of my classes for beginner drawers and painters. The day will be structured like the first session. This means that those that attended the first day will be able to refresh themselves in the disciplines of observational drawing and those attending for the first time will get the instruction they need to have a successful day.

Getting everyone drawing without worrying about correctness is the first priority. We will do blind drawing, contour drawing and tonal drawing. Tonal drawing can be done with dry media like charcoal or pencils, or with wet media like paint. We will use both.

Again we will use simple objects but will vary the eye level in which we view them setting up new and interesting compositional relationships.

It all sounds very technical but its important to me that you have a method of drawing and painting that you can use when at home. It’s not hard if you take it step by step as you all found out on the first day. The excitement of drawing what you actually see is what we are there for. Once we have found the correct relationships between simple objects we might have time to look outside at the landscape to see what objects we can see.

This is a beginners class. You don't need any experience in drawing and painting. Come along and discover what you are capable of. I look forward to seeing you there.
