Jacinda's passion for social justice led her to the Labour Party at just 17 years old. She was born in Hamilton in 1980 and elected to Parliament in 2008. Jacinda became the MP for Mt Albert in the 2017 by-election, having previously run in the marginal seat of Auckland Central.

She was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2014 and is a past President of IUSY, an international political youth organisation with headquarters in Vienna. Jacinda is passionate about child welfare issues and counts Labour’s Children’s policy and her Members Bill to eradicate child poverty as ideas she aspires to implement.
