Evolution Revolution is physical theatre, shadow-play, shape-shifting, backed by soundtracks and use of choral speaking and over-voicing to weave a story rich with universal archetypes and themes. The beginning draws from Maoridom's spiritual philosophy then extends to depictions of some of the humankind's grandest achievements spread across the planet. We're then drawn into the demise of humankind, depictions of darkness - destruction, degradation and despair take us on a downward spiral. So much for evolution - but then we find resolution and re-enter the light! What is the revolution? Well, you have to come and see!

This piece was devised during Terms 1 and 2 if 2016 by Ronnie's Teen theatre group. Working with concepts of physical theatre and music inspired Ronnie's to encourage the group towards trying something different - without characters as such. Without dialogue as such. Without any of the usual norms. Thus, Evolution Revolution evolved. For me, as Director, I found adding the icing to the cake exciting - coming up with the 'monologues' the choral overlays, the music, and SFX, then the addition of lighting effects and - the birth of Evolution Revolution.

Performed by Youth.
