Festival of Cultures - Ngahau Te Manawa: Fiesta Time

Te Manawa and The Globe theatre with buzzing on Sunday for the last day of the three-day Festival of Cultures. There will be a great line-up of events and activities for all ages to participate in, watch, or listen to and learn. This is a continuation of our celebration of cultural diversity in New Zealand.

Highlights include:
Cultural Fashion Parade - organised and presented by the Manawatu Multicultural Centre.
Multi-clothes for Multi-people - and extensive cultural fashion show featuring national costumes, creative wear and clothes made from natural fibre. (Globe Theatre: 12 - 2pm)

Toro Pikopiko puppets - Māori Rock-Art Puppet production - The Flight - Te Rerenga. This is a fabulous acoustic rock musical, featuring 100 fabulous ‘Flatso’ puppets inspired from ancient cave drawings made on limestone cliffs and caves around the Timaru district. The show re-tells a Ngai Tahu legend about Pourangahua the Birdman and his epic flight to Aotearoa in search of his own kind. (The Globe Theatre 11:30 and 1:30)

Gamelan Padhang Moncar:
The orchestra will be performing a show and hosting a workshop on how to play some of the instruments of a gamelan orchestra. (Te Manawa)

Workshop - 1:45pm - 2:30pm (Registrations required for workshop on the day at Te Manawa reception).

Vincent O'Malley: The War That Shaped A Nation - Historian Vincent O'Malley discusses his new book The Great War for New Zealand: An account of war in Waikato between 1863 and 1864. (4pm The Globe Theatre).

- Sarah the Scientist – Dr Sarah Kenworth shares her love and passion for science and our unique fingerprints. (Te Manawa 11am - 3pm)
- Discovery Time – 'Hands- on' creative cultural activities (Te Manawa)
- The Migrating Kitchen - (Te Manawa Courtyard)
- Entertainment - a variety of entertainment on stage throughout the day including Matiu Te Huki (Te Manawa).
