Is it really possible to enjoy pure and lasting happiness? If this is indeed possible, what are the methods we need to follow in order to accomplish such important goal? In this course, we will have the unique opportunity to learn an authentic path to the supreme state of enlightenment from qualified Buddhist teachers. The instructions will be clear and practical, yet profound and thought-provoking.

This is a special characteristic of Modern Buddhism – the pure and ancient wisdom teachings of Buddha applied to our modern way of life. Everyone can benefit from these Dharma instructions to make each and every day more meaningful.

This 9-week course on Monday evenings is based on the book The New Heart of Wisdom – Profound Teachings from Buddha’s Heart by the great Buddhist author, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. We will have the opportunity to study, contemplate and meditate on the section of the book that reveals the stages of the path to enlightenment, or Lamrim in Tibetan.

This is a series of meditations that, when integrated with our daily experiences, gradually purify and transform our mind until we develop the spiritual realisations that lead us to the supreme inner peace of enlightenment.

The teachers of this course will be the Buddhist monk Gen Togden and the Kadampa Teacher Lizzie Kelly, who brings a wealth of knowledge and personal experience to inspire us to follow the path to enlightenment.

“Enlightenment is the inner light of wisdom that is permanently free from all mistaken appearance, and whose function is to bestow mental peace upon each and every living being every day. Right now we have obtained a human rebirth and have the opportunity to attain enlightenment through Dharma practice, so if we waste this precious opportunity in meaningless activities there is no greater loss and no greater foolishness. This is because in future such a precious opportunity will be extremely hard to find.” – Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
