This winter concert opens with Franz von Suppé's Overture to Poet and Peasant. Suppé is known for his light operas in the Romantic style and the overtures, in particular, are a popular part of concert repertoire today.

The French Flair will then be apparent in Saint-Saëns' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso which features violin soloist Malavika Gopal. The main work of the concert is Cezar Franck's Symphony in D minor. This Romantic style Symphony of great beauty has three movements.

Come and enjoy the wonderful acoustics of St James Church as we welcome our new music director Mark Carter.
