Earlier this year, Myrtle rust, a fungal disease which spreads easily and infects members of the Myrtle family, arrived in New Zealand, raising the fear that manuka honey, guava, feijoa and Ugni berries, Eucalyptus and tea tree oils, the aromas of manuka, lemon myrtle and Tasmanian blue gum leaves, Eucalyptus timber and the magnificent floral displays of rata, pohutukawa and the bottle brushes could become a thing of the past.

The rust has already spread to Australia from South America, so join this walk to mingle with the Myrtles while we may.

Meet at the Cable Car Entrance for this downhill 90-minute walk. (Cash only).

This guided walk is delivered by the Friends of Wellington Botanic Garden.
